Vitamin D, something everyone lacks

I recently read an article in one of the Lithuanian magazines.
The author discovered vitamin D, or rather, discovered its deficiency in her body.
Frequent mood swings, insomnia, weakened immunity, and low testosterone levels (in men) can be symptoms of this deficiency.
During one preventive blood test, doctors diagnosed her with a critical vitamin D deficiency.
Preventive, not some kind of check-up performed at a clinic, but a voluntary one performed for money.
There are quite a few laboratories that do this, all you need is the desire and money.
But let's put our hand on our heart and answer how many of us do such research.
The current norm is 75 nmol/l, so you can check your level.
I learned about vitamin D quite a long time ago. More precisely, about its general deficiency in our country.
I was interested in psychology and the causes of depression.
The sun is one of the factors why people in the south are happier and suffer less from seasonal depression.
While researching why the sun is important, I learned that it strongly influences the synthesis of vitamin D in our body,
and the latter maintains the concentration of Calcium and Phosphorus in the blood, which is necessary for the normal condition, structure and function of cells, muscles and bones.
There are 4 known forms of vitamin D – lamisterol (vitamin D1),
ergocalciferol (vitamin D2), cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) and dihydrotachysterol (vitamin D4).
The two most popular are D3 and D2, D3 of animal origin, D2 of plant origin.
However, D3 is the most popular because the biologically active form of the vitamin persists for a longer period of time.
It is practically impossible to get enough vitamin D from food; you need to eat a lot of eggs,
fatty fish or take cod liver oil.
Another option is to get it synthesized in the skin by exposure to the sun, and not just any sun, but one that falls at a 90-degree angle.
Oddly enough, moderate sun exposure is healthy,
15-30 minutes two to three times a week during the summer to get a slight tan.
Even my doctor boldly allowed me to take vitamin D without any tests, because we are all deficient in it.
I noticed the importance of vitamin D in Sweden, where this supplement is sold even on the shelves of a regular supermarket.
Along with other products, vitamins, amino acids BCAA, omega3 and the like.
Concentrations are quite high 200-400% RDA
According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the maximum safe dose of vitamin D is 2000 IU/day.
Of course, in cases of a significant deficit (if this is indicated by a blood test and prescribed by a doctor), a dose of up to 4,000 international units is prescribed.
So, if you feel like you're getting too little sun, have a weak immune system, or are lacking the male hormone Testosterone,
We recommend replenishing vitamin D reserves in warm climates and by taking vitamin D supplements.
