The endogenous chemical compound L-Carnitine (hydroxycarboxylic acid) takes part in the fat oxidation, i.e. the fat burning, in the muscle. L-Carnitine transports the long-chain fat acids to the mitochondria, the “energy plants” of the cells, where the latter is burned. This function leads to a more stimulated fat burning due to a higher transport capacity.
L-Carnitine can be found in great amount in red meat, but less in poultry meat and very little in vegetable diet, so external intake can be sensible.
