While vitamin K is mostly known for its involvement in blood clotting, K2 also helps to activate the osteocalcin and matrix GLA proteins that regulate where calcium ends up in the body.

Vitamin K2 itself consists of 13 numbered natural substances called menaquinones of which primarily menaquinone-7 has been scientifically studied to benefit cardiovascular and bone health. Studies suggest menaquinone-7 specifically may also support both mood and blood sugar health in women.
