NOW Foods Methyl Folate provides a biologically active form of folate known as methylfolate (5-MTHF), which is ready for direct use by the body without the need for metabolic conversion. The product uses the patented Quatrefolic® form, recognized for its superior bioavailability compared to standard folic acid.

Unlike synthetic folic acid, methylfolate can cross the blood–brain barrier and plays a critical role in cell division, DNA synthesis, neurotransmitter production, and homocysteine metabolism.
